ART SHANGHAI, one of the most important and most prestigious international events taking place in Shanghai every year, will be held from May 12th to May 16th, 2010 at the Shanghai Mart. Much like in previous editions, Art Shanghai offers a distinct art venue to the domestic and international collectors of the region. From its beginning in 2003, the trend in ART SHANGHAI has been to bring a more international and wider spectrum of art to the fair, having had a total of over 700 art institutions participating, with more than 150 thousand visitors and sales of over 30 million dollars, in a total area over 8,000 square meters. Purposely located in the centre of the Chinese international business district, side by side to its unique historical and geographical landmarks, the city of Shanghai is also quickly becoming a cultural platform, attracting worldwide attention by not only offering a superior international fair but by also breeding a relatively mature domestic and Asian art market. Concurrently, Shanghai World Expo 2010, from May 1st to 31st of October, is yet a further focus of interest, attracting 200 nations and hundreds of international organizations to take part in it, as well as 70 million visitors from home and abroad Once again ART SHANGHAI will host the presence of a Pavilion devoted to Latin-American Art called, The Latin-American Pavilion (LAP).
