ART SHANGHAI, one of the most important and most prestigious international events taking place in Shanghai every year, will be held from April 13Th to April 17th 2011 at the Shanghai Mart. Much like in previous editions, Art Shanghai offers a distinct art venue to the domestic and international collectors of the region. From its beginning in 2003, the trend in ART SHANGHAI has been to bring a more international and wider spectrum of art to the fair, having had a total of over 700 art institutions participating, with more than 150 thousand visitors and sales of over 150 million Yuan's, in a total area over 8,000 square meters.
Once again ART SHANGHAI will host the presence of The Latin-American Pavilion (LAP), a space devoted to the most influential voices in Latin-American Art, from masters to contemporaries of the Latin- American Art world. The LAP is a pioneer of its kind in Asia and a referring cornerstone of Latin-American culture in artistic Asian circles, housing galleries which specialize in Latin-American Art with various origins in Europe, North America, Asia, and Latin America, all of which today exhibit through it, the works of renowned artists from the continent.
In addition to spaces designated for the International Galleries, the LAP presents for a 2nd consecutive year a Contemporary Art Section curated by renowned art critic, Milagros Bello. The Contemporary Art Section is an area devoted to the most influential voices in Latin-American Art which, like in the previous year, hosts the presence of artists from around the continent giving the event an added prestige to further consolidate its brand in the competitive Chinese Art market. The works to be included will cover everything from paintings, sculptures, digital photography to video art and installations.
